I'm working with a great host family in the Netherlands for around 2 months. Just now noticed I'm pregnant. The family supports me but obviously by law I will can't work any more once the pregnancy is advanced. Any idea about how Dutch would help me beign european?

Is this a pregnancy that was pre-existing yet undiscovered when you started? Or is this a new pregnancy?

What does that mean? Women have to take leave at a certain time in pregnancy?

It means by law is not possible once the baby is born, at the same time with an advanced pregnancy I could not develop my kob correctly.

I discover it a week ago but most likely it happened around the same dates I started.

And, is this a serious forum? I'm not troll so I would thank a bit of respect, I'm jyst asking questions

Who were you sleeping with at the time you started in a foreign country?

Ignore the nasty responses, but honestly I don't think you will find any help on this board. Most if not all of the people who post here are in the US, so won't be familiar with Dutch law. You are better off looking for information and resources in the Netherlands than posting here. Good luck.

Have the baby there, you cannot afford a birth in America

I am sorry, I still don't understand. In America, people work until their due date unless there is a medical problem. How is that different in the Netherlands?
Also, I would assume once you have your baby, you will not be an au pair anymore. If your family is supportive, I don't see an issue for you to continue until you either have the baby, or think your health is compromised enough so you can no longer work.

you should ask in the Netherland. laws may be very different in different countries and the US is notorious for giving mothers minimal protections. in many EU countries the pregnant women have a mandatory period where they cannot work, often about one month before the birth to 3 or 4 months after, it depends on the country. don't assume things are like in the US, because they are not. also, I assume that the au pair program may have some rules about this situation, and I would not be surprised if a pregnant au pair is sent home. there might be problems with your visa (you do not say what nationality you have), you cannot just stay in the Netherland without a visa just because a family is supporting you. people may have doubt about your story because a family looking for childcare is not likely to end up with a young mother and a new born (and no child care after spending $$$ for the program)

Why are you asking this on a US board?

Find a Dutch board to ask your question. None of us know any answers about it.

OP, did you sleep with the dad-boss?

Because in some countries you are a) not allowed to do certain jobs while pregnant (including those where you have to carry heavy things, pick up heavy stuff or deal with children / sick people) and b) are supposed to go on maternity leave in week x of your pregnancy.

According to a quick google search, the Netherlands expect you to go on maternity leave (zwangerschapsverlof) four to six weeks before birth. By law! And they even get paid their full salary for those weeks plus up to ten weeks after giving birth (bevallingsverlof).
EU law.
