Do you let your nanny eat the food at your house?

People are paying thousands of dollars for child care and being stingy about food? I frequently cook during the afternoon during my lunch hour and offer our nanny to help herself. She almost never does but when something smells good she will ask to take some home. I’m always happy to share. We are upper middle class but of course money is tight with high child care costs. If someone is coming to my home, I was raised to always offer whatever we have, but I grew up in a Pakistani household and feeding people is considered a good deed.

That's very nice of you as am employer. No all families welcome the nanny like that. I worked for 2 families who they didn't even offer a coffee or a soda. Anyways I always brought my own lunch. But they didn't even offer to feel free to have a snack like a banana a cup of coffee or a soda.

In generally, our nanny brings her own food, and if she was making full lunches for herself every day, that might start to grate on me, as it's not in our food budget, nor do we buy enough for that - we'd run out of lunch food for sure.

But I can't imagine making a big stink about what is essentially a condiment!? I mean really. A little honey every once in a while? I wouldn't even NOTICE let alone care. This feels like a real red flag.

At least for now, if I were you, I would just never eat so much as another crumb of their food again, but I'd probably also stop sharing my food with the kid. It goes both ways!

It's also worth checking if you're doing the smoothie recipe wrong? Maybe they just use a tiny splash of honey in every one and you were putting in like 3 tablespoons so it's going much, much faster? Or if there's no recipe and you're just making smoothies, maybe cut down on the honey? Or ask them about that?

Why not pick up a few things for her? If you can afford a nanny you can afford to feed her.

Yes, of course, our nanny is welcome to anything. She brings her own lunch every day though but knows she can eat whatever she wants.

All nannies would be really appreciate; when families allow them to help herself; at least with a cup of coffe or a little snack. Sometimes you will realize if they are nice or not until you are working for them. Other times you will realize; how the family is, right in the first time you meet them. I met a family who invited me to interview and in the phone seemed nice..
But believe or not; they didn't even invited me to have a sit, to have a nice and real Interview. As soon as I crossed the door; I said next. While in other interviews families are so nice and even have offered me a glass or water, a coffe or a tea.

No, our nanny doesn't eat our food. Mostly because we don't keep much in the house. We don't drink coffee or tea, or snack much. Our fridge has more condiments than real food.

How old is your kid? Do you pick up dinner on your way home everyday?
