LOL. I see 100 kids a week in the preschool line hop out of cars, no 6 year old is in a 5point. Usually by 3 they are in a booster with a seatbelt. |
You are an idiot. There are lots of 6 year olds in 5 point harnesses. Do some research and find out what's safe for your kids. Kids are killed in accidents when they are in booster seats too young that they could have survived being in a 5 point harness. A booster only positions the seatbelt, that's it. I don't understand parents who think this is so funny and no big deal to not keep your children as safe as possible in the car. |

Kids at 6 can be in a booster if the belt fits and they sit properly and they should remain in one until 10-12 and pass the 5 step test. Short adults don't need one because they have gone through puberty but a 10-12 year old the same size that doesn't pass the 5 step needs one. The risks are internal organ damage, slumbering under the seat belt or being ejected.
Yes people are just catching into what has been recommended for years and are now following the new recommendations but there are more people that say well we didn't use anything and we were safe (go ask the kids that didn't make it) or everyone else does it so we do to. Why not encourage others to start doing it and keep all kids safe. When you know better you do better |
By 3-4 they need to be in a booster. This whole 5 point harness for 4-8 yrs olds is ridiculous. When god says your time is up, your time is up. |
|
Hey, so if kids die when God says, why bother to use car seats ever? Just toss that newborn or toddler or preschooler in the car and let God take care of 'em!
Idiot. |
Wow you are dumb. |
| Your nanny is correct. I'm surprised your ped didn't tell you not to turn the seat at your 12 mos check up. I highly doubt your 3 yr old is always sitting appropriately in the booster. I would give your nanny a bonus. |
This makes me want to vomit a little. |
Sadly a lot of doctors don't even follow the aap recommendations and still go by the old 1 and 20lb rule. The best people to talk to about car seats are certified techs. You can find local ones at Safekids.org. Firemen, policemen, and first responders are great resources for the jobs they do but unless they take a special course they only go by the law |
