This is correct. Regardless of the typical one year term, any nanny can quit at any time, and no one can sue her for anything. Employers often fall short of their promises, and some nannies think they have to put up with the employer's bad behavior. It's better to get a new job and then quit.

If I were ever in this situation and truly scared of being sued I would become a terrible employee. My typical on time amazing job performance would end and I would just stop coming to work . Let them fire me.
