Acrylic nails are very blunt. They can't scratch anyone. My real nails are much more dangerous when it comes to scratching. |
I have been an active nanny for almost 5 years now and during the last three I have had powder dipped natural, looking but sparkly champagne, nails. I have never scratched any babies nor kiddos nor broken my nails. The powder provides strength to my natural nail...I have scratched a toddler by accident once with my natural nail...and they are more at risk to break when they aren't as protected by some kind of manicure at least... Imo I think as long as they don't interfere with your job and you keep them clean and not crazy long and wash hands everytime you change a diaper....(like you're suppose to anyways, your fine) I am also saying this because I have had a recent interview with my powder dipped sparkly champagne colored nails and landed the job. The mother loved my nails and it spoke about who I am. They actually appreciate that my personality came out. |
Maybe because my kid is older so doesn't need picking up of diaper changes, but it would not bother me at all. The last sitter we had had several piercings and tattoos on both arms but she was super nice in the interview and it worked out great for the summer. That’s all I needed her for. |
Please stop pulling up old threads. Jesus, no one wears long acrylic nails anymore!! This thread is ten years old. |
Fake nails are apparently filthy. |
As long as you don't have the crazy long, pointed nails. I've had gels that few knew were fake. My boss asked how I kept my nails nice. (Office job and she was snarky about anything unprofessional) Short, natural shape in whatever colour I chose. I gravitate toward neutrals anyway. I think keeping them in a natural shape and short is key. |
This. |
that’s what I’m saying bro like literally |
Not god but true |
This is a very old post so acrylic nails are no longer as popular as they once were.
People nowadays tend to wear gel nails now. As long as a Nanny’s fingernails are not obscenely long (like a cat’s claws) then I would be okay with it. Like I always wonder how Kylie Jenner even changed her baby’s diapers with those talons! |
Yes nanny and fake nails don’t go together. I want someone who can get dirty with my kids. |
She doesn’t, they all have multiple nannies per child, 24/7 care. |
