This is the one thing I hate about being a nanny to babies - they forget you so quickly. My charge is pretty smart but she's still a baby. She is just starting separation anxiety with strangers and I'd hate to get into that the first morning they are back.
Plus all my hard work wiped off her memory in ten days? What are your experiences with this length of absence at around this age? |
|
She will not forget you. She will be excited to see you.
|
Agree. Bless you for caring so much, OP. |
|
I was a part time nanny in college, and I'd go home for Christmas or Spring Break, and the baby didn't forget me. I also went home for the summer, and she didn't forget me then either but she was about 18 months then.

Amazing how caring nannies never forgot "their" children. Have you been able to keep in touch at all? |
Your charge will be excited to see you, trust me! They never forget. Mine is 16 months now and he always runs around shouting and dancing before giving me a huge hug whenever I arrive, even if it's been 2 weeks. So don't worry. |
| Definitely not, OP! She'll be delighted to see you again. |
| No, she won't forget you. But do let us know how it turns out. |
| I went away for a week when the baby was 6 months, 9 months and 12 months. She always remembered me and was so excited to see me. Enjoy your trip! |
| No, my little charge was just nine-months when his family went away for a week. When he saw me I got the biggest smiles and lots of kisses! However he did not let me out of his sight for the rest of the day. I even had to hold him for his nap (I didn't mind - I missed the little guy, too). |
| Wow - glad to hear all this! My charge is eight-months and I really don't want to start all over when they get back from their week vacation either. |
| Yeah, really - it would be like "40 First Dates" on steroids! All the work, love and devotion you pour into a little one for nine-months wiped away in ten days - too cruel. |
| No, she won't! I went away for a week last summer when my twin charges were 6 months and then again when they were 14 months and both times they were SO EXCITED to see me when I got back. |
|
Not after just ten days.
She will be excited to see you again! That is assuming she likes you!
