I'm really blue :( RSS feed

My charges move away in two weeks. We knew this was coming but I am just feeling so
Blue over it. They are 3 and under and I have worked with them 15 months and the other from birth. I know that the heartache will go away but it's just such a bummer. It's hard to look into their little faces and know that I won't get to care for them
Any more...

I have a phenomenal family that I will Start up with the day after this position ends, so in that respect I am
Very excited to work with them but this really just sucks...

Vent over.

This IS hard, OP. How many hours a week have you been caring for them?

This happened to me a couple of months ago. While I'm really happy with my new family it's still sad. Luckily now that our professional relationship is over we are friends so they send little updates but I feel your pain

This is the downside of working as a nanny.

Unfortunately, children do grow up and families do move on so in this profession, one must be 100% prepared for major change at any time.

While I cannot give advice on taking away your sadness, I can give you some advice on how to deal w/it.

Hopefully you will be able to keep in contact w/this family via the Internet.
Maybe one of you has a blog where you can post pictures and comments or even via Facebook.

Also, Facetime is also a very great way to keep up to date on what's new.

Sure it is not the same as working for them and seeing them on a regular basis and no one will ever replace the special place they hold in your heart and memory.
But just keep in mind what a positive impact you made on their lives and that will live on in them.
