| I work for a family that I absolutely love. The kids are adorable, the pay is good, and the parents are respectful and considerate. Every day when I leave, my MB or DB will say "thank you." I always just wish them a pleasant evening. I was thinking today that I could just as easily say thank you back. I am so grateful to have them in my life! Do you say thank you on a regular basis? Or do you try to show your appreciation by going above and beyond and by doing special things for holidays (e.g., Mother's Day, birthdays, etc.)? |
| We always say "thank you" to each other. |
| Thank you goes along way in any relationship. OP, are you a male nanny, or was manny in the header a misprint? Just interested in your experiences as a male in a female dominated field if that is indeed the case. |

My families always say "Thank You" as well and I simply respond "You're Welcome." To say "Thank You" back would be too weird to me.
However, I always say "Thank You" when they hand me my check. This is just me though. It's a personal choice. |
OP here. I am a female nanny who can't type.
My employers never hand me a check, just place it on the counter. I generally say "Thanks" if they mention it's there, but it's more "thanks for letting me know" vs. "Thanks for employing me." |

My family says thanks most days when I leave, and I generally reply with "you're welcome" or "have a good evening". They're thanking me for doing a good job with their child - I don't feel like I have anything to thank them for in that context.
I always say thank you when MB points out my paycheck, however. That's when it feels appropriate. I also wrote them a nice message in their xmas card stating how thankful I was to be working for them. |
