| 3 children (6 months,2 and 4) I've mostly has positions with 1 or 2 kids. Caring for 1 child seems a lot different than watching 2 or 3 kids. I would want pay to reflect this. I've been paid around $15/hour in the past for 1 kid. |

Do you have any experience at all with watching multiple very small children? This is pretty much what we have at my house, and it has been a hard first year, even with the 4-year-old in PT preschool.
If no experience, I would expect your rate to reflect that. So, maybe $18/hr? I would expect someone experienced to start at $20-$21. |
+1. We are looking for someone now for our 3 children and most people with experience want around $20/hr. I'm specifically looking for someone who has had experience with 3 young children but even if you haven't had experience with 3 before but you've had several years of experience as a nanny I think you could get close to $20 as well. Regardless of whether you have done it before looking after 3 small children is challenging and the rate should reflect that. |
OP here. I have tons of experience taking care of 2 children but not 3. |
PP here. I think you can try for close to $20. Personally, if you were a good fit for my family but only had experience with 2 children I'd have to think really hard about whether to hire you. It's not a reflection on you but 3 children is difficult and I want to make sure whoever I hire is totally capable of that so I would prefer someone who has done it before. The rate wouldn't be a problem for me though if I thought you could do it. |
| In my experience $25-$30 an hour. Is hard tacking 3 kids |
| 2 kids is VERY different than 3. I'm a nanny and my first group of three kids was challenging even though I'd had years of experience |

I pay $18 hour in NOVA, although my oldest is in K and out of the house most of the day during the school year.
I do offer guaranteed hours, including guaranteed overtime hours, even if the nanny is on vacation, sick leave, etc. So she always knows exactly what she's earning each week. |
