Hi all! I would like to express my feelings and your feedback would be greatly appreciated. I've been a nanny to 2 lovely kids, since birth. One is 2 1/2 and the other is 4. Over the years I have encounter very strange and odd things that are not to my comfort level or rather settling as a mother and caregiver. The Father of the children smokes marijuana in the home and doesn’t feed his children the food they need to grow. He says they are allergic to egg, when in fact I know they are not. He feed him left over cold food and doesn’t heat it up, all these things are just out of this world to me and it troubles me to see these kids living in these conditions. As a nurturer I believe children should be nourished with Love, warmth, and all the best a parent can give. At least In my culture that is the norm, Am I wrong for wanting to give advice and feed the children basic food groups to help them grow and develop.
I’ve given the children eggs in the past and the parents say the children are allergic, but I know they are not because I’ve even gone to doctor’s appointment with them and the doctor has never pointed this as a problem. Any feedback on what I should do? |
| Why do you want to feed them eggs so much? |
|
Please tell me this isn't real.
1. Cold left overs are not dangerous or bad. I'm not sure why you think it means he's not nurturing because he gives them cold leftovers. DS LOVES cold tortellini. 2. Perhaps they've had reactions to eggs that are not considered a true allergy. Perhaps parents think eggs have too much cholesterol. Whatever it is, a kid not eating eggs isn't a big deal. 3. The parents obviously have a reason for not giving their kids eggs. The fact that you disregarded what they told you is just insane. Kids don't need eggs. They can get all that nutrition from other food. Kids don't need leftovers heated up. DOesn't impact the nutritional value. You sound incredibly naive and stupid |
| What you should do is quit this job so the parents can find a nanny who isn't crazy. |
| Why would you give a child something you were told they are allergic to. That's just crazy and scary, what if the child had a horrible reaction. I could not have a nanny like you watching my children. |
| They may not have a true allergy, but that doesn't mean that eggs don't bother the kids in some way or another. There are certain foods that cause me some GI issues and yet I don't test as allergic to them. But I should still avoid them. |

Quit...
don't work for a pothead. |
| Please quit this job so the family can get a nanny who will not endanger children by giving them foods they are allergic to. |
| Maybe you should take some advice from the father and smoke up once in a while. |
| I think you should quit or be fired. NOT ok for you to feed the kids eggs if the parents say no. I would be really pissed. |
| I like cold pizza. Maybe the kids like cold leftovers too. |

I think it's odd that most people are focusing on OPs disapproval of cold food and not on the father's drug habit.
I know "it's only a little weed." SIGH |
By the end of her post, I had forgotten that he smokes pot because she kept talking about the eggs!

Who cares about the father's "habit"? There's a reason why marijuana laws are changing so rapidly.
Also to the OP, how dare you give your charges a food that the family had explicitly instructed you not to give them. For that alone you should be fired and given poor references in the future. |

Ha most of my charges lunches are left overs from the night before. The first plate normally is reheated, but when they want more, its normally cold (why reheat the whole bowl of left overs??).
Also if the parents told you their kids are allergic to something why feed them that?!?! That just seems stupid and dangerous. Whether they are or are not. What if they are allergic and you gave them eggs! I think you need to find a new line of work way away from kids! |
