| Nanny/mother's helper to SAHM mom with 2 year old twins and a newborn. Nanny will care for all three kids, but not usually all at once. Limited driving, cooking/cleaning/laundry as related to kids. 40 hrs per week in McLean. |
| That sounds more like a nanny situation than a Mothers Helper. I would charge regular nanny rates. |
| At least 15/hr, maybe 20 or more depending on her rates. |
| Its basically a nanny job with a stay at home MB. 40 hours a week is not a Mothers Helper. |
What would you charge? I have had live-in full time and live-out part time, but never live-out full time so I am trying see if my rate is fair. Nannied for 5 years full time, 4 of those with a previous twin family. Have infant and twin experience and up to 5 kids at a time. |

Benefits 2 weeks vacation, 5 national holidays, 3 sick days.
I've worked for this family live-out part time for 18 months and my rate was $18 an hour, no benefits. I am fine with a lower full time rate but it seems I was thinking 16-17, they were thinking 12-13, which seemed very low. Just trying to figure out whether I need a reality check. I've had other offers recently with similar ages for $18/50 hours per week, so that was my basis. |
| That seems very low to me. Given that you could find work caring for a single child for $15/hr, I'm not sure why you would accept that job. |
| Thanks, guys. I think this family is just not aware of how much a full time nanny costs. Looking at the math, with this rate, I would be working 100% more, but only making 30% more, which is definitely off. I hope we can work it out as I love the family, but I can see why they might balk at paying for full time professional care when they already have a SAHM. |
| I think $18/hr is a fair rate for this job. $12-$13/hr is way too low. |
