Is this a Good Rate for a Nanny in Annandale, VA? RSS feed

Anonymous
I need to know if this is a good offer from an Annandale, VA family for their newborn.

They pay $750/week, up to 50 hours/week. The hourly rate is $13.63. Overtime rate is $20.45.

They give two weeks paid vacation (I can choose one week) plus federal holidays and up to one week of paid sick days.

No non-baby related housekeeping other than to let the dog in/out of the yard.

I want more vacation but they said they can only give two weeks.

Is this good? I saw a nanny in Bethesda get more.

What do you bring to the table? Any special skills or abilities?

Bethesda and Annandale are two different cities and states... I saw a nanny get paid 30$ an hour in LA does that mean gonna make 30$ an hour in DC No...

Some nannies do earn more than $30/hr., but of course they have specialized skills.

Two weeks is standard. Are they offering any sick days?

We don't know your background to tell you if what they are offering is ok. If you are a new nanny, then what they are offering you is fine. If you have 20 years of experience, then you can ask for more.

At $15 per hour average rate, plus 2 weeks vacation, paid holidays, and five days sick leave, this is a very standard package for a nanny with 0-5 years experience who will care for one child. If the vacation issue is a big deal, you could request that some of those sick days be usable as additional vacation days.

Sounds like a perfectly normal, reasonable offer (as 1:13 laid out).

This is almost exactly where we started our nanny (in Kensington). We could offer a little more vacation flexiblity but otherwise the rates and benefits are very comparable.

If you don't take the position they will have lots of reasonably qualified candidates who are interested.
