Hi, we are hiring a new nanny after 3 years of employing our first. We are registered as a business in DC and do everything by the books. I know I need the new nanny to fill out her I9 and W4 for us, but do I need to change anything with the city or the IRS as employers? We will notify the insurance co. obvs.

You shouldn't need to notify the city or IRS - your tax filings/records will do that for you. You need to maintain your employer status of course, but that is not driven by whomever you are employing at any given time.

That's what I thought, but was just checking. Thanks!

In Maryland, you have to report new hires to the state. Don't know if that's true in DC also.

A lot of states require that you report new hires.

You do need to perform new hire reporting to the state as mandated by federal law.
