I work part-time and my hours are changing to one day per week in the fall. So I am going to need someone (not a professional nanny, just babysitter) to watch my 2 year old from 8:00am -4:00pm, one day per week. How impossible is it going to be to find someone? I was wondering if I should look into someone who is retired who might be up for working just one day per week, but I am not sure where to look? I am trying to avoid college students whose schedules change every semester. Any suggestions?
you'll be able to find someone...it might be a regular nanny who works three or four days with another family and has a hole to fill, it. might be a retired person or a student. you'll have the best luck if it's a consistent day of the week. if the days varies you may have a much harder time since most people want to be able to plan their week whether it's worth another job, volunteering activities, classes etc. Also be prepared top pay whether you need them on a given week or not...they're reserving their time for you.
The family I work for is looking for a part time share kid so if that's something you are interested in I'm sure there are other families as well.
Depends on the day of the week you're looking to fill, and if it varies or not. A lot of nannies work 4 day weeks, and would love to find a Friday gig. Not so many are looking for say a Wednesday gig (though you could find a student) or have the availability to deal with a 1 day a week gig that changes weekly.
Yep. Because we have an au pair we needed someone for Fridays only, and he just joins another kid and her nanny for a part-time nanny share (other kid is alone with the nanny the rest of the week).
