how to establish a contract for a part time nanny in DC?

We're parents coming from Europe, recently relocated to DC and we know very little about nanny contract issuance, taxes and everything. I would be very grateful if someone could help me understand how it works and the procedure steps. Thank you very much for your help!

I forgot to ask - we had bad experience about nannies not showing up for interview - none of them dared to call to cancel the appointments. Is it common practice here?

You need to find someone to help you. Do you have any business contacts who are parents, and might have some experience with this?

HI thank you for responding. My baby is 10 months old and we'd need a part time nanny 2 days/week.
I guess I can find a contract template on line, I'm not too worried about this. it's more about the procedures for declaring the nanny to the authorities, paying the taxes etc. Who pays what taxes and what %? I'm looking for that type of information, and I can't find anything clear on the web. We're very new to DC and are still quite isolated socially for the moment. So I thought our only solution is to post on forums.

Google "nanny taxes" or "DC nanny employer". I'd still recommend asking around. It can be a good way to build connections. Most people, I believe, would be delighted to help out.
