My name isn't long or to complicated but the consonants make it harder for little ones.
My last charge took a long time to pronounce it correctly. But my current changes are twins and just 18 months. They say it perfectly. It's awesome they are great talkers (they never shut up haha). They actually talked really early, and really really early for preemie twins. I know its a good thing but still sad |
I totally get it OP. My name is Robyn and my charge (22mos) has been calling me "Raaah" for the last 5 months or so. The other day, she called me "Rabah". Still adorable, but she's getting the hang of it.

Op-I know the feeling! My very first charges were 5 & 8 months when I started. The baby(at the time) always had a hard time pronouncing my long name. I remember being so sad when she was able to say it correctly. But now at 19, she insists on the way she used to pronounce it! It's an inside joke at this point when she visits!
Now with my current family, I am LaLa even the mom refers to me by that name! So I have a feeling I'll cry when the kids start saying my name correctly! |

I totally get it. I have one former nanny family whose kids are now 5-15, and they still all use the nickname that the middle child gave me at age one, 6 years ago. It melts my heart because it is a constant reminder of how special ai was to them at that time.
My other charges tend to say my name mostly correctly, but there's an R in my names that often turns into a W when babies say it, and I always feel wistful when they finally master that R sound. |
| Aww! I completely understand! But that is so great that they're speaking so early. It's a huge testament to you and their parents when they improve so quickly. |
Thank you all
I talked to my MB and she is sad because they already started saying mommy instead of mama. |
