| Do you tip your house cleaners, hair dressers, or anyone who provides a service to you year round? Mail carrier? I see the nanny debate going on and on, but I was wondering if there is anyone I should be tipping that I'm not. |
| Yes, all of them. Anyone who regularly provides you with a service. We even tip our garbage collectors. |

+1
Our mailman, garbage man, and snowplow driver also get small cash and food gifts at the holidays. |
BS. How do you tip the snowplow driver? |
Ha! We live on the end of a cul-de-sac and he spends a great deal of time getting that area cleared. We always have brownies and an envelope ready and whoever sees him out there will rush out with the gifts (also he knows we do this and have been doing so for years, so he probably goes extra slowly in the hopes we will make it out there in time). Bonus brownies for the family if we miss him, but it's not like be only comes once a year

That's sweet about the snowplow.
If you have kids and they ride a bus: schoolbus driver. |
| The teachers, instructors, and the coaches at the short programs like little gym, or Jonah's tree house type classes. |
| Home room teacher, PE and Music teacher, school bus driver and the mail man.. 4-6pcs. cupcakes or bag of chocolates plus a gift card 15-50$ (giant, target,Starbucks) |
My brother was a plow driver and people would run out and give him gifts. My stepdad was a garbage man and ppl would do the same or leave a gift/ envelope near the trash. You'd be surprised how many people are generous during the holidays. You do see it more in the suburbs rather than the city. |
So nice to hear all that, 8:10. |
| Don't people typically tip the hair dresser after each service? |
| So people go out of their way to tip/gift the garbage man and snow plow guy, but scoff at the idea of a bonus for the woman caring for your kids and making your home run smoothly.... |

No one on this thread scoffed at tipping the nanny, PP.
Dial back the drama. |
I didn't say this thread, but the general attitude on the board has been very anti bonus as if there's nothing a nanny can do to warrant one, no one can afford one, and every nanny who gets one is a liar, and those who want one are entitled. This thread is simply the icing on the unappreciative disrespectful cake. |
That's completely untrue. There were certainly some who said it wasn't a given for a nanny to get a bonus, NO ONE said there is nothing a nanny can do to warrant one and there were an equal number who said they give the nanny at least a bonus equal to one weeks pay. |
