Holiday Bonus Recommendation RSS feed

Hi All,

My husband and I are considering what to give our new nanny as a holiday bonus, and I'm hoping this forum can help provide some advice or guidance since this is our first time working with a nanny. Our nanny has been with us part time since September of this year. She will already be receiving two weeks of paid time off during the Christmas holiday.

We adore our nanny, and she takes excellent care of our daughter. Our days are better when she's been at our home, and I always come home from work to a clean house, a well cared for baby, and if she has time she'll even cook for us. In sum, I feel so grateful that we found her. She goes above and beyond what I intended her job description to be, and I'd like to reward her for that.

Given the fact that she's only been with us since September and is also receiving 2 weeks PTO for the holidays, what would be a typical generous holiday bonus?

Thank you!

I would prorate what you would give her if she was there a year. If you would have given a weeks salary for a year, you are looking at about a third of that since she hasn't been with you long.

Give her a nice card that says your days are better when she's been there and that you love the excellent care she gives your daughter.

1 weeks pay would be generous for a nanny who just started. 2 weeks is pretty standard for a long term nanny.
