I was talking to a coworker about the nanny tax, and she asked if I would need to get liability insurance since I'll be an employer. That seems extreme, but I guess it's a valid question. If the nanny is hurt at my house (say falling down stairs or something), would I be liable?

Yes. You should be paying workmans comp and increase your home insurance just incase.

If the nanny hurt herself at your home, yes, you would be liable.
