I am wondering if anyone has gotten certified as A NCS?
I found a few places that have online classes One is ICT Academy - they offer Newborn Infant Care Specialist Certificate (I & II) The other is the NCSA website that takes you to their approved training progams (thru other agencies). The one program closest to me doesn't have a training class in a while but they do have interactive courses (online and live chats with teachers). Both are around the same cost What have others done?? Thanks |
Taking a class is one of multiple steps to being a **certified** NCS. You also have to log 2000 hours of verified care for newborns, and you can only do 8 hours a day that count toward that 2000. That's a minimum of 250 days of care to get certified.
The NCSA has not gone through any formal process to make their certification "formal", as far as I know. I would check out the Alexandria School - they are planning to offer on-line classes soon: http://www.alexandria-school.com/home |
Alexandria school is the only one I'd use for NCS training. It's a great program and accredited. The NCSA is a woman who decided to create and certify her own curriculum- there's no responsibility or oversight.
You can also look into the international maternity institute. |
Accerdited by who? |
What about the ICT website??

Ohio state board of colleges / technical schools. If you have questions- call them. They're very friendly and can give you more info then I could. |
What happened to the Alexandria School? I can't find any info there?

Email them.
I think they are moving to more of an online presence due to the needs of the people they serve. |
