| We live in DC, but our nanny share is going to be in VA at the other family's house. Does anyone know how I should go about paying our share of the Nanny's VA state income tax and unemployment tax? Should I register as a household employer in VA using the other family's address? Thanks. |

Here's how this nanny share thing gets really shady. The house where you're paying someone to provide care of your child, is supposed to be licensed.
Is the nanny a VA resident? Does she live-in or out? Your payment to the nanny is separate and apart from the other family, so you can't "use" their address. |
| You pay taxes to the nanny's state of residence |
And to the location she works from |
| In which state is the nanny's residence, OP? |
Not true. |
Depends where you live, don't you know? |
In Virginia, which is where the share is, it isn't true.

Up to how many unrelated children can you care for, not in the home of the children? |
In VA? http://www.dss.virginia.gov/facility/child_care/licensed/child_day_centers/

You need to find your own state AND county laws as they apply to "family day care providers" and "family day care homes".
"Centers" obviously do not apply here. Some places require you to be licensed if you provide PAID care for ANY child who does not live in the home where the care is being provided. |
What did you decide, OP? |
