I don't even know a school kid who'd be dumb enough to agree to that rate.

Sounds fair for 25min outside of DC for evening babysitting. Put the kids to bed have a sandwich and enjoy a movie... while being paid.

I'm a Manny BTW and make 15 per hr. in Ballston for nannying but sometimes I take 11.. for evenings.

I made that at age 15 (more than a decade ago) in a suburb 1-1.5 hours driving time from DC. I don't know any adults worth hiring that would accept that pay.

You must know some pretty spoiled teenagers.

No doubt care.com is averaging in the illegal $5/hr rates they advertise for on their site. Charming.
Look how many of you are fooled by this nonsense.

Of course it's fair, but not according to DCUMers. Lol. I pay $11/hr

to a high school student, not an adult, right?

Care.com has never been accurate with their pay calculater. I live outside of DC in a very affluent area and it says the average hourly rate for 1 child in my area is $15 which is what I was making 10 years ago.

How do you suppose they compile their "average"?

Good question. I have no idea. What do you think?
