Does it vary among different agencies? |
It does. Cultural Care now requires a "background check," APIA does not. Both agencies have a sit-down interview with the host family in their home where they spend about an hour talking about the program, rules, expectations, etc and look at the au pair's room. But what is it that you want to know about a host family? I bet a lot of what you want to know won't be revealed with a background check. |
Where's the thread by the au pair who was groped by her host family (the father of the children)? Did she answer the question about which agency was responsible for placing her in a dangerous home? |
This really concerns me. These foreign young women shouldn't have to be worried about their safety in your house. |
A background check isnt going to find a groper... |
+1 |
We got an AP in rematch who was removed by the agency from an alcoholic's home. They can't screen for that. CC also asks for a work and personal reference. |
...unless he's also a convicted rapist. |
I'm glad your AP found you. I hope she wasn't traumatized by the alchoholic host family. |
She was a little, but luckily wasn't there too long before her LCC stepped in. |
Kudos to that LCC. What an awful situation for the au pair. |
I thought that background checks were part of that requirements, seeing that the US government has oversight of these au pair programs. If I wanted to be a host family, I absolutely would avoid any of the au pair business owners who neglect doing family checks.
That tells you they are cutting corners on the other end to.... How can that be legal??? |

Anyone know about this? |
