| How much should I pay a 15 yr old or 17 yr old babysitter to watch my 4 year old? Also, if they are not babysitting but just being a "mother's helper" while I'm home I'd pay less, but how much is appropriate? We just moved here from GA so I have no idea the rates up here. Thanks! |

$12/hr for mothers helper and $15/hr for independent babysitting.
Asking their rates never works. Set the rate you're willing to pay for the job instead. Far fewer headaches that way. |

| They don't sound mature enough to have a job. Would you expect your own daughter of the same age to respond like that? I'd be horrified. In fact, my own daughter does reach for the stars in exchange for her hard work. |
