I'm a student and a nanny and the other day on campus I was chitchatting with another student who is a childhood education major.
I told her I'm a nanny and she lit up and said, "OH! I was a nanny for years! You get so close to the kids, don't you?" I agreed and said, "Yes, it's more than a job (blahblahblah small talk)." and she says: "Yeah, I've been through so much with my kids...all kinds of crazy days like me hitting them and yelling at them! ![]() .... ... WTF!?!?!?!?!? |
The crazy thing is that some parent
who hired the girl actually thought she was a nanny. |
I was so shocked that she would admit doing something like that- she said it as though it was normal and she thought I could relate. I don't worry for her future students because she would be fired quickly for pulling crap like that at a regular school. But I worry for the kids at the nannying jobs she'll get once she loses her teaching certificate for being a nutjob. |
I agree. People just need to stopping everyone a nanny. A sitter isn't a nanny. |
Ugh, I know a nanny who informed me that she smokes pot before going to work every day. Appalling. And both her MB and DB are doctors! I don't know how they've never noticed... |
How old were her charges? You'd think if they were old enough they would tell their parents.. If they're under 3 then yes, that woman needs to be smacked for doing/saying that. |
Not that I'm defending the pot-smoking nanny, but a lot of people who smoke pot habitually don't seem or behave oddly after smoking. I smoke (never before work!) a there's nothing I can do sober that I can't do high. Nanny should not be showing up to work anything other than sober, but it doesn't surprise me the parents don't notice.
I didn't ask (I was pretty wide-eyed), but I think she said one of the girls was 6 or 7 now and that she didn't work for them anymore. |
That's good for the some stupid people hire fake nannies |
There are some pretty incompetent people calling themselves nannies. |
...not to mention some incompetent parents also calling them nannies. |
