So I found a one night babysitting gig for a 12 month old.
The mom and I have talked, she checked my references and background. They live out of state and are flying into my area for a wedding. We are meeting this Saturday for hellos and than I'll work Sunday evening to the late night. The mom tells me she has neverleft the baby EVER. I booked this job months ago but now that is next weekend I'm freaking out. I used to travel with one of my old families (for their work we all traveled 75% of the year). So I'm ok with being in a hotel room with kids but I'm worried about the child being upset being in a new place with a stranger. The wedding and reception are not in the hotel or even close to the hotel. Anyone have suggestions? Tips for this? The child is 12 months. Thanks all |
Make sure parents leave plenty of toys and food. I think it'll be fine. Easier than school aged kids IMO. |
Have the parents give you a key to the hotel room, so you can take the baby for a walk if needed. |
If the mother has NEVER left the baby then that's your concern - not the kid! ![]() Don't worry, it'll be fine. |
What is the time frame you are booked for? |
Thanks everyone.
To answer some things Time frame early evening to midnight. So yes the baby will be sleeping mostly. No the mother will not be in and out the wedding and reception are not close to the hotel. They are taking a shuttle with other guests because it's not within walking distance. Yes we've talked about leaving toys and food and a key. I've asked for the baby's favorite toys. Also when we say our hellos the day before it's in the evening so I can be with mom during the night routine. |
