I have been with my current family for over a year and I am being offered the opportunity to teach 5th grade this school year. I don't want to leave my family high and dry, but this is a huge opportunity for me in my field. I am going to give my two weeks, but offer to stay on longer if necessary and train their new nanny to ease the transition.
I think this is fair and professional. Thoughts? |
Congratulations! Definately go for it. |
I think what your planning on doing sounds good. It's always hard to leave a family but if they are decent people they will understand. And congrats on getting a teaching gig, that's awesome! Good luck with everything! |
How will you stay on longer? Are you going to 'end' your nanny job before the school year starts? |
Go for it! Congrats |
OP here, I have to end my position before the school year starts. I will be giving notice next week. That gives the parents over a month to find a replacement. |
Good lord. This is your life and you take this opportunity. You give two weeks notice and this is all you owe them. Good luck. |
+100 |
OP - sounds fair to me (MB). Congratulations. |
Let's say you give notice on Wednesday, the 24th. What happens if they find a new nanny that wants to start Wednesday, August 7th? Are you okay financially to be between jobs that long? |
Congrats OP! Give them two weeks and take the time off to collect yourself and regain some sanity. Good luck! |
This is very fair. Congrats on the new opportunity, which you should of course take. Your family should be pleased to hear the news, too! |
