This reminds me of one of the families I babysit for. Older parents tend to have more of life's fundamentals figured out (finances, housing, relationship, career) and therefore seem to have a whole lot more time to obsess over their kids. Difficult to say whether it will have any effects in the long-term, or whether they'll be positive or negative.

Parents can be in tune to their children with or without spreadsheets.

Do you guys not keep a log for infants? I mean, clearly this goes beyond that, but I chart all diapers, feedings, naps, sicknesses, doctor appts, and sometimes activities/journal entry of charge's mood, how the day went, etc.
