Hi there! I'm new here but this entire website seems very helpful. My husband, 17-month-old son, and I will be relocating to Northern Virginia (probably Falls Church or nearby) in a few months and we are interested in a nanny share. I'm wondering how the sleeping arrangements work. If it was at our house, would we be responsible for purchasing a crib for the other family's child to nap in? My son likely would not sleep in a pack 'n play if the share was at another's house (he's very tall for his age) so I'm not sure what's best. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks! |
Pack n plays are pretty standard :-/
Welcome!! |
If your kid won't sleep in a pack n play, you probably need to host. If you're hosting, the other child will need somewhere to sleep, usually that is a pack n play. |
How tall is your kid that he can't sleep in a pack and play at 17 months? My tall 3 year old charge can still sleep in one |
We've always had the other family bring over a pack and play to leave at our house. I suppose they could also bring a small crib, but that would be up to them. No, the host doesn't have to provide it. |
No host does not provide the sleep spot - the family does. Theoretically you could buy a small cot but nanny may not like that T that age since they are not confined to a safe spot then. I think you need to host if you want a crib. I host a share and no way would I want a second crib permanently set up in my house. |
We share hosting duties. Each family owns a crib and a pack and play, so the host just sets up their pack and play for the non-hosting family to use. This is SO much easier than carting pack and plays back and forth. Non-hosting family provides a waterproof cover and sheet for the pack and play and takes it home each week to wash. |
When we were in a share, we brought a pack-and-play, and we took it back when the share ended. |
14:05 has not right in terms of what is simplest. PNP stores well in host's basement or closet. |
