Is this a red flag or no big deal? RSS feed

I recently came in contact with a babysitter on sittercity, and I'm arranging for her to come for an interview. Almost every time she emails me she spells her name differently when signing off. She has used an a instead an e, or she will spell it with double a. Those are only minor differences, and I believe this is only a nickname for her anyway.
But her email account (the name that comes up on the inbox) is in a completely different name altogether. That name was not on her background check.

I have a odd feeling about this, but I'm considering still going through with the interview. What do you think?

Definite reg flag. It's plain stupid to ignore your gut. That's exactly how people get into trouble.

You have an odd feeling, so don't go through with it. Practice trusting your instincts.

I could excuse the name variations by assuming she was on an iPhone/iPad and was typing quickly and didn't notice hitting the wrong letter or autocorrect. But that in combination with the different email addresss name is not good and I'd listen to your gut.

OP here. The reason I had considered overlooking it is because I did get to do a background check on her. Also, there is no picture on her profile but judging by her name on the BG check, I believe she is Indian and I know it's quite common for people to use a more secular sounding name other than their birth-name.

Well since it's just an interview and not like you hired her yet, I'd say go through with the interview and ask her about it. That's what I'd do.

Meet in public.

Trust your instincts above all else. Meet in public. Go in highly skeptical (if you decide to go forward with meeting her at all).

I have a feeling it's a scammer.. Only because scammers are known for switching names (even little details in the name) and having a completely different name as a email address. Go with your gut.

That's kind of weird. Have you spoken to her on the phone? I think if you talk to her on the phone and still get a weird feeling, just cancel the interview. But if she seems legit on the phone just schedule an interview and let her know you'd like to see her driver's license or an ID, and verify who she is, and ask about the different spellings.

No, I've only emailed with her. That's a good idea about the driver's license.
