Need help to sleep train infant RSS feed

I am a first time night nanny for a 4 month old little girl. Looking for advice on how to drop the 3am feeding. Family is against cio and there are older children that need to sleep and avoid having them wake up. Tia for any tips

First of all, how much is she eating at 3am? How many ounces is she eating per day? When you are dropping a feeding you need to make sure baby is getting enough throughout the day to make up for the missed feeding. I would start by increasing her other feedings by an ounce and decrease the amount she is getting at 3am.

You can also try dream feeding, but this doesn't work for everyone.

Does she use a pacifier? I've had some success with using the pacifier to stretch the baby out longer between feedings.

She is eating 6-8 ounces at 3 am and eats 40-50 a day she just hit 15lbs. I know mb tried increasing daytime feeds but baby refused

Four months is too early for her to sleep through the night.

No it's not. I started as a night nanny for twin boys when they were born and am now their full time nanny. They've been sleeping from 9pm-7pm since 3 months. 4 months is definitely not too early.

My now 5 month old charge had been sleeping through the night since 3 months. Definitely not too early. .

What do the parents want? If they've already told you they don't want CIO and they're paying for you to be their night nanny, then I think you have your answer.

Babies can safely sleep through the night on e they are at least 12 lbs and 12 weeks.

First of all, this is a generic "average" type statement and doesn't apply to every single baby. It also doesn't have anything to do with what the parents want or what this particular baby needs. If the parents said no CIO (and I agree with them that it's way way too early for that) and the baby won't eat more during the day, then this particular baby is going to be waking up at 3am for the forseeable future.

parents need to help with this.

there will have to be some crying it out. use s timer to time it. maybe let cry 2 minutes, go in & comfort baby, leave, let cry 3 minutes, go in & comfort baby, leave, etc etc

although I'd wait until 5-6 months, but that's just me.

6-8 ounces seems like a lot. Baby is clearly still very hungry at that hour and needs the bottle.

Who is pushing for sleep training? You? the parents?

Parents don't have a problem with her still waking we just have been taking about the end goal of sleeping through the night. I am contacted to work until August 1st and then if needed sign another month contract. I just want to do my best and get her to sleep through the night but maybe I'm trying to posh it to fast

I think pp are right about increasing day time oz. if she won't take it try moving the night feed to 10pm.You can also try moving the night feed back an hour at a time. So now its 3am so try for 2,1,12,11,10 etc till the last feed is around7-8pm. Also are the parents not okay with "crying" or CIO? bc there will be some crying but I also don't believe in CIO.
