I would like to become an au pair in UK RSS feed

Anonymous
Hi. I'm seventeen years old girl from finland and I am extremely interested in becoming an au pair next summer. I think I would be good at it,because I get along with all kinds of people, several people have stated that I seem way more mature and stable than most in my age,my english is relatively fine and I really love children and being with them

Anyway if anyone of you would like to share your experiences about being an au pair they would be greatly appreciated.

Your English is perfect!
How did you learn it?
How did you find this forum?
Do you have one more year in high school?

What childcare experiences have you had? Most families will be looking for at least some documented experience and not just a stated love of children. If you haven't had any experiences, I'd suggest working on getting as much experience and child-related education as you can over the next year.

Thank you! I have learned english only in school. Compulsory education in Finland ends after 9th grade when a person is 15 years old. After that you can apply to any school you want to and they take people in based on their grades and also in many schools they interview the students that have applied in that particular school and also make decisions based on that. So I finished 2 years ago and after that I started an apprenticeship on a horse stable. Now after 2 years I have realized that it is not my thing at all,but I still have 6 months to go. I found this forum by using google
About my childcare experience: My current bosses, 2 women who are sisters own the horse stable I'm working at, the other one has a 3 year old son (have been babysitting him since he was 1,5 years old though) and her sister has 2 kids aged two and three. I have been babysitting them often. Besides every time we go visit anyone of my mom's friends who has children I'm the one playing with the kids when adults are chatting with each other so I think that tells quite a lot about how I get along with children Thank you kindly for your answers!

your english really is good when written down but what about speaking it?

Okay obviously I'm finnish so my pronunciation isn't perfect, of course I have a bit of a finnish accent going on,but I would still say I'm pretty clear when I speak english and I think people should be able to understand me btw I just have a question for you: How is your finnish? I'm just saying that people speaking some language other than just their own mother tongue shouldn't be judged if they aren't speaking it perfectly learning a new language is never easy and always takes a lot of hard work. I speak finnish and english fluently,my swedish is okay and I speak just a little bit french. I gotta say that french is a one hard language.
