Data use on phone while driving and accident... RSS feed

So my nanny rear ended another car with my car. She was off duty.

I pay for her cell phone, since it's useful for the job.

After the accident, I noticed some data use right around the time of the accident. Two blips...one 120KB and one 3.5MB.

I asked her about it, and she said she was using Pandora at the time, but not the phone.

I don't believe her, since Pandora streaming uses a bigger footprint.

Right?

What kind of usage uses this type of amount of data. I think the 120KB might be a text or mail message, but the 3.5MB? Could that be Pandora, or maybe something else?

Thanks.

Both actually could be pandora. I monitor my data use constantly since I am no longer grandfathered into the unlimited data plan with my iPhone. Pandora often puts out the data in 2-3 blips, the first being the smallest when it actually connects to the network, the next with the large food print from streaming... Just what I have noticed on mine...Noticed enough to make me stop streaming pandora in the car since it uses so much data.. Hope that helps..

Agree with PP, as I have the smallest data plan available and have to keep a close eye on it. Have noticed the same thing with Pandora.

could be pandora. could be a big message (picture?) coming in. that doesn't necessarily mean she was reading the message.

And this why I have my own phone plan and have the families contribute money towards it rather than provide me with one. And if they must have me use theirs then its strictly for work and I'll have my own private plan for personal things. I don't need ppl playing detective or knowing my business. That data is too large to be from a single text. She was prob downloading something like pandora, large email etc

Wow I'm glad you're not my MB. What else do you monitor? If you have all this time to spy on your nanny, why can't you look after your own kids? Never mind, they're better off spending less time around YOU.

Please shut up. Again, you're contributing nothing to this thread and only trying to troll up some trouble.

ask to see her phone and search for activity around that time.

I'm beginning to anticipate this troll's post on every thread. I'm wondering who she is, why she is so jealous, angry, disappointed, jealous (oops, said that already), judgemental, lonely, .... Is it a mom? Is it a nanny? Is it a dad? Does s/he have kids? work? have any hobbies? 7 cats? Vacation?

OP here.

I don't check on her phone normally, but being that this was an ACCIDENT in my car, I thought it was prudent to check it.

Thanks for the helpful responses.

She CAUSED AN ACCIDENT in your car, OP, and she uses a cell phone you pay for, so don't let anyone tell you that you have no right to look into this. If it is pandora, it could still be the cause of the distraction, since the initial data use would be from her opening the app and selecting a station. I'd talk with her about it, because even if it was pandora, that wouldn't sit well with me.

Here's another troll (aka anyone you don't like) for you, 17:16. YOU are the one who needs to shut up unless you've been appointed Forum Nazi.

Yes let's not take her adult word for it but look at the exact second the data began to transfer and pretend we are experts at data forensics. OP is honestly probably better off just calling the NSA and asking them what her nanny was doing at 11:55:21am.

Try to stay on topic, PP. This thread isn't about you.
