MB tells me she loves me RSS feed

It's really awkward for me. I know she's just being nice and trying to make me feel like part of the family but its weird. Like yesterday on my drive home she texts me, just want to make sure you know we love you. Or sometimes when I'm leaving she'll say it to me. I never know what to say so I give her an 'aww, thank you, you guys are awesome' I've never been the type to say I love you to people besides my dh and my kids, should I just say it back? Do you think I'm offending her by not saying it?

I think she means it in the same way MBs on here say they love their nanny. Not a romantic or familial love, but that they love the way you are as an employee and appreciate the role you play. Texting you about it on the way home is a little awkward but its sweet and I think you're over thinking the gesture. If this is the worst thing they give you to complain about, count your blessings!

Just say thank you. No big deal. The word obviously means different things to different people.

She needs to meet the MB who doesn't want her nanny to tell her son that she loves him.

Either so sweet, or a little strange . . . I cannot decide which. Try to read the positive into her declaration, "Aww you are so special to our children, and I just LOVE you for it!"

You have to say thank you Lord!

I don't think it's weird but I know people like yourself who aren't comfortable with I love yous. My MB says it to me all the time but we are super close and I live with them. It kind of is like a family situation.

My previous MB was the same way. She even gave me a cheek kisses on occasion. But that is just how we were.

Some people are just very affectionate. I'm not, but have learned to accept affection. Be happy. Having a boss that loves you and appreciates you is way better than having a boss who treats you like a servant.

When a MB says she loves you OP, she doesn't mean it too literally.

What she means is that you are awesome and both parents and kids think you are the best.
It doesn't mean she will love you unconditionally from now on and that you can borrow money from her.

And NO, she probably will not bail you out of jail.
