My husband and I both work late and into the evenings and therefore cannot rely on traditional daycare services that end ~ 6pm; we are looking for childcare and/or nanny from ~3pm- 8pm. Any suggestions on options or where to look? |
Age of children and where are you? |
One child 3 months old, in Rockville/Bethesda area |
You might need to offer a pretty high rate since those hours are next to impossible. Is it a longterm situation? |
Yes, at least for the next 2 years |
OP, considering the difficulty here, it might be most sensible to consider a relative, friend, or neighbor, and offer a very attractive arrangement for them (whatever they need/want). |
Try an agency or a sitting/nanny site. Your hours are not unreasonable. However they are for certain people. If you offer a competitive wage you will find the right person. Make sure you check references if going on your own. |
The hours might be attractive to a student, because he or she could easily arrange a class schedule if they are free until 2 pm. I would write up what I needed in as much detail as possible and post to care.com, Craigslist, etc. |
I had a job like this in college and loved the hours, maybe go the college student route |
Same here! I loved the hours as well when I was a student. |
Care.com, Sittercity.com or in the Jobs section on here.
Good Luck. |
Can you get an au pair? I think there are some who can do infants, and you would be able to set her schedule, which would be especially nice if your jobs aren't super flexible. |
