How to handle transition from nanny to school?

| Our child is enrolled in the fall and we recently got official word. We need to a) tell our nanny share family and b) tell our nanny. What's the best way to handle this situation? How much time do we give each party, and how do we move forward with a hopefully seamless transition? Any tips or shared experiences would be very helpful! |

| Give both as much notice as you can. If the nanny share is happy with the current nanny they may just look for another family to replace yours. If the nanny is unhappy- give her enough time to find another job and make sure you give her stellar references. |

| What about in the situation where the family could potentially want a new nanny or a new situation? which party to I defer to, the family or the nanny? I feel like the party that we tell first will have the upper hand. |
