Unless you're the child, she is not YOUR nanny.
Is the nanny now becoming synonymous with personal assistant?

Wow really? People here will complain about anything. My bosses refer to me sometimes as their nanny but I don't find it offensive...I am THEIR NANNY. They hired me. They pay me.

I wouldn't mind my charge or my bosses referring to me as "my nanny" or "our nanny". You sound uptight and like maybe you get offended too easily.

Some of us may appreciate simple accuracy, no?

"Our nanny" is not a problem. Just like "our daycare provider" or "our school" or "our teacher" would similarly not be a problem. It's a simple way to show a connection. Would you rather they referred to you as "THE nanny"? That seems way worse to me.

Jesus woman, chill out.

It's not being "possessive" literally, it's proper fucking grammar. Yes, I am their nanny, they are my charges. I totally agree with PP, "The Nanny" is way worse.

I refer to my children's pediatrician as "my pediatrician." This confuses no one and doesn't seem to offend "my pediatrician." Perhaps this has more to do with security in one's own job title than grammar?

I am a nanny and I agree that "my nanny" is not offensive but "the nanny" is.

Yes, "The nanny" is the worst. I prefer to be called by my name.

Why are nannies so insecure? You people have egos you need to learn to let go and accept your job title. You're 'the nanny' just like a secretary is 'the secretary' 'the principal' 'the garbage man' 'the PRESIDENT'
Get over it, will ya? way to sensitive.

Anyone is most welcome to use sloppy language, just not in reference to me. I did once have a parent introduce me to his colleagues as "his nanny". I wasn't I only one who chuckled at his cute error. He instantly corrected himself. After all, HE was just a little too old to be having a nanny.

But yes, some adults do indeed, need their own nanny. For them, even having a FT nanny, doesn't seem to much improve their overall well-being.

Semantics? Yes, you got it.
Very good.

1 nanny does not equal all nannies.

Why do you post here if you don't have a nanny?
