| Our new part-time nanny is starting tomorrow. Is there some small something we can do to get things off on a good foot? The prorate a day per month suggestion in the other thread doesn't work in this situation because the month is zero. |

| You don't need to give her a bonus this year - a small (small!) gift is more than enough for someone who's just begun working for you in mid-December. A card saying how thankful you are for her being there and a gift card to starbucks/target/whatever will be absolutely adequate. I would think $20 on the card would be appropriate, but you could go higher if you WANTED to - and ONLY if you wanted to. (I wouldn't go above $50 though.) |

| No bonus. No gift. She hasn't even started yet, so clearly she has not earned a bonus.. Wait until her birthday or employment anniversary to gift her. |
