OMG I started a job last week and these people had the audacity to say they were considerate and generous. When they expect me to be in their house 10 hrs and told me not to touch their sodas or even have a glass of milk. Granted that she told me to bring my own food and snacks but wow in the 8 yrs I have been babysitting /nannying I have never met such petty horrible people. She isnt paying me for the time I have to go pick up their daughter Im just shocked hurt and over all dissapointed.

Leave and don't come back. You haven't been there long enough for a reference. If you feel you must, then send them a registered letter telling them you have a personal emergency and you will not be coming back. Make sure you cash paycheck and deposit cash inyo your checking account. You don!'t owe them anything. Good luck.

If you are so mortally offended that you are not offered food and beverages, why did you take a job that clearly stated you needed to bring your own food and beverages?

Does your job start when you pick up the daughter from school? If yes, then you shouldn't be compensated for your time driving to the daughter's school. This is your commute and not time you paid for or mileage for which you can be compensated. Very standard practice.

Food is a perk you should have negotiated if that was so important to you. It's completely reasonable for them to expect you to bring your own lunch (although you don't give details whether you are a full time nanny or a p/t sitter).

If you don't like it, get a new job.

These are not horrible people. Sounds like they let you know to bring your own food when you negotiated but you expected you could get this and that here and there without having them say anything.

Did you expect to go 10 hours without any beverage? Of course you didn't. So why didn't you bring any??? They are not horrible people.

A lot of people who work and have kids not only have a hard time financially but time-wise too. If you drink their soda, they have to go that much sooner to the store, time they don't have.

You should find a new job.

This is no way for a family to treat a nanny and you're unlikely to suddenly be treated better or
Enjoy your time with them more- and if you stay with them long you will likely get a bad reference (if any) from them and will have to try and explain it. Just not worth it at all. Leave while you easily can.

Sound like someone my nanny worked with
and left them because they would keep eating
infront of her and ask her to work while
they eat.

Sorry!!

Bring food and drinks and ask them if you can store cans of soda somewhere. Sounds a lot easier than finding a new job. Sheesh.

You poor pampered princess who expects her employers to feed her. Get real.

As for the not getting paid when picking up their daughter, you need to address that.

Well they could deduct $$ everytime you eat or drink their food. If you worked at a daycare you would bring your food, right?: Dont sweat the little stuff.
