How long does AP process take? RSS feed

We're considering finding an au pair, but would need someone who can start in about 6 weeks. Is this even possible?

It is if you find a rematch au pair that is already in the country. Frequently, you can have someone starting in two or three weeks if you only look at APs that are already in your area that need to rematch (and they're not necessarily all bad au pairs - some are because of bad families or just mismatches).

Otherwise, 6 weeks would be pushing it, especially if you're going to be at all picky about who comes. I guess if you just went on there today, picked someone, and immediately got the visa process going, they may be able to arrive at training in 6 weeks and then at your house by the end of the 6th week. But you're pretty much setting yourself up to fail if you don't take your time selecting.

You can get someone more quickly than usual if you jump on something like this:

It takes about 6 weeks from final matching, so you aren't giving yourself much time to search. We've been looking for a few weeks - we thought we had one girl lined up but she didn't work out at the last minute.

Wow - like from looking to her arriving? Did you feel like you had enough time to interview her and make sure she was the one?
