I am thinking of taking my DS (3) out of his preschool because, after three months, he is not too happy and I am not 100% with the school. How much wold a nanny cost me, in Falls Church, 7 hours a day?
I am new to the US and to the world of nannies. What do I need to do to check she is legal, and do I need to pay tax and social security for her? Thanks. |
The rate varies depending on what you want. 14-16 an hour. Check out nanny laws to find out that info. |
You can do it yourself but we use a company to do the taxes.
http://mybreedlove.com/ or http://www.gtm.com/ are two big commonly used companies. I THINK we pay a couple hundred a quarter ($800/year) for them to make sure all the taxes are filed. Our nanny also gets direct deposit through the company. We basically give them our check account info, nanny's checking account info, social security #, addresses, etc. and they do everything. For checking that they are legal, once you pick the person, there is a new hire form you fill out (given to us by breedlove but you can get it from the government) when you set up the tax accounts and there it says you must view in person one or two of the documents in person (passport, ss card, etc) and you sign it that you viewed it and that is checking if the person is legal. I'm not an expert but that's how it worked for us. |
pp here. I think the rate we pay is a little higher because we use direct deposit for our nanny paycheck. You can write your own check and save some $$. |
