Are any of you having Thanksgiving dinner with your employers? Or parents, are you having it with your nannies? Or have you in the past? Or would you rather scrub the floors with your toothbrush? (Lol![]() |
I was invited to Thanksgiving at my previous employers' home after I left for college a couple months before Thanksgiving 2 years ago.
It was great. Had great food, conversation and awesome seeing the kids. |
I've also enjoyed Thanksgiving with previous employers who are now very close friends-it was wonderful. I was very honored and grateful that they shared such a special holiday with me. |
I have often had Thanksgiving with employers, it's the next best thing to my own family who I don't always travel to see. |
My employers host, and they have 10-12 children over so they have me work on Thanksgiving each year to manage the children. I usually do outdoor sports, a craft, eating, smaller craft, eating dessert, then reading books or playing board games. |
Do you get payed holiday pay to work on Thanksgiving? |
Our nanny has been with us for almost 5 years, and I would definitely invite her over for Thanksgiving. The only reason I haven't is because whenever we chat about upcoming holidays, she always describes plans she is looking forward to. |
I get paid regular. |
Sorry ![]() I find it hard to go to parties with kids because people expect me to "entertain" the kids. I have no children and most of my friends don't which actually is nice. I love working with kids, but also love adult conversations that I don't have to wipe boogers. I think you should also get extra pay. At least a little but. do the guests bring extra kids? Some jobs give holiday pay for working on a holiday. What are all these parents doing while you're entertaining their children? |
To the PP working with 10-12 kids on thanksgiving... That's disgusting!! They don't even pay you extra or overtime??? |
13:40 - the parents enjoy adult conversations. The guests don't bring extra kids, just their kids. |
I too work Thanksgiving. Not invited to the dinner, because they don't have a dinner. It's just like another day at work. This year I traveled with them to FL on turkey day. It was nice to get away from the cold. |
