Best tips to find a Spanish-speaking nanny RSS feed

Anonymous
We live in Tenleytown/NWDC and are currently looking for a nanny. We are raising our kids to speak both Spanish and English so we are focusing our search on applicants who are Spanish-speaking. Aside from DCUM and craigslist, do you have any recommendations for where to search? I have made a flyer which I will post at some local parks - are there any other community bulletin boards you would suggest?

Thanks so much for the responses.

Do you want them to speak only Spanish or be bi-lingual themselves.

Post at bulletin boards in rec centers

Open your door and shout and you will have nannies lined up around the block.

Finding a Spanish-speaking nanny is easy. Do you also want her to speak decent English? If that is the case, I would stress the BI-lingual nature of the job. Say you would like someone with good English skills as well as fluent Spanish.

You could place an add on care.com, and talk to any mums in your area. My tip would be to post the ad in Spanish and ask that they respond in English. That way you will know who understands Spanish, and you will be able to gauge their English from their response.

Great advice! It will also let you weed out people who cannot follow written directions, which is essential in a good nanny and with a potential language barrier.
