Another nanny here, I usually use my car and don’t ask for reimbursement. Mainly bc I don’t want to keep track of mileage and I take care of kids 3mos-2yrs. I also get paid very well, typically receive bonuses/gifts throughout the time I’m working for a family and families have given me free range. I’m also not driving an older car. So $40 isn’t going to cover wear and tear on my car. Now if I use a family’s car then I expect the tank to always be filled and when it’s low I immediately tell them so they can fill the car up or leave money for gas. |
Whenever she drives her car for work purposes you pay for irs gas mileage rate |
Always pay gas mileage if she's using her car for work. If you don't want to pay gas mileage than mletnher use your car |
Parents have really pushed the limits during this pandemic! Since they are home, wanting to regulate the nanny’s day! They really aren’t taking the time to think about how nanny’s have had to adjust during the pandemic not being able to have indoor play dates, various activities through the day. I myself as a nanny went through the same as OP’s nanny, tired of going to the same neighborhood playground everyday. I also, asked for a car seat for my vehicle to travel to other playgrounds close to home. My employers didn’t hesitate and were very appreciative and offered w/out me asking extra gas stipend! |
