Maybe OP needs to learn to be more assertive. It's not a big deal to need to remind your employer to pay you. I'm baffled that having to send a little nudge is so upsetting?

Uh, yes it is. Does your employer ever forget to pay you? Would it be NBD if they did? I’m guessing not.

When I was nannying I did and truly, it’s not a big deal.

Also I don’t know what people are implying with “they’re not forgetting.” They’re hoping nannies are so rich they won’t notice? Stupid.

No- they are hoping nanny won’t say anything.

I went to weekly music lessons for years. Every so often I would forget to fish the check out. The teacher would just say, "Did you have payment for today?" I would say, "Yes, sorry--here to go!" and that was that. Lives are busy and messy. If they are trying to stiff you, you will know through other means.

There’s a decent credence between having a check ready for a weekly short lesson then forgetting to fish it out once there and forgetting to write a check for the person providing daily childcare for your children.

I am a MB and I pay weekly by app. I also forget with no ill intention - don’t be so sure they are doing it on purpose!

Just put a reminder on your phone calendae that repeats weekly.

I used to forget all the time (probably about 1/3 of the time). As soon as you get home, you are attacked by kids (in a good way) and typically run around doing things with them. I always felt horrible. At a certain point I stopped and just said this is ridiculous and set up an autopay with my bank. Never had to think about it again.

Maybe suggest an autopay to your employer in a nice way. Just say something like how you just set up autopay with your XYZ person and it was so convenient. Maybe if they set it up with you, they would have one less thing to think about.

Just realized this post was REALLY old. Sorry.

Does anyone have a stock script to use to remind folks to pay. A ‘where is my money’ seems to crass, but a ‘I was wondering if you noticed you didn’t pay’ makes me feel like an 8yo asking for allowance.

No one forgets to pay. They don't have the money. I would tell them if it happens again that I will quit with reason.

Do not leave until you're paid. Stand there and wait. This is not ok. (I'm a MB, not a nanny).

That’s not true. We’ve forgotten before and were mortified and then set up a payment reminder. It would’ve been easier to have an autopay set up but bank accounts didn’t allow for that. Has nothing to do with not being able to afford it.

Know this is an old post but DH has forgotten a few times. I was really angry with him. It's just not acceptable.
Our nanny had to text him to remind him which is really degrading. I've told him if it happens again, we can expect to lose her.

For all those busy people who forget to pay their employees, what if it was your company that regularly forgot to pay you? It gets humiliating have to ask for your money every time they forget.
