| I ask my nanny to get it every year at our expense. We wrote that plus tdap into contract. |
| The only time I got the flu shot I got the flu and was sick for weeks. Going on 10 years now without the ful and without the flu shot. My Boss and the kids st work get it every year, they're always sick. I get sick once every 3 years. |
You don’t understand what the flu vaccination is, PP. It is impossible to get the flu from the vaccine. You are completely misinformed and connecting two things that have no connection. |
| Pp, I think you misunderstood what the poster meant. I think she was saying that even though she got the shot she still came down with the flu. Nowhere did she say, she got the flu from the shot. |

I've been a nanny for 20 years (19.5 to be exact)
2 of the families I worked for (long term - 8 years and 5 years) were doctors. None of the families I've ever worked for required a flu shot (I would not take the job) I've never gotten one in my life. |
[b] Blahblahblah people tell me this every year. Every year everyone gets sick, except me. I'll keep doing things my way, thanks!!! Clearly my immune system is excellent and I don't need to be injectibg anything into my body. |
m [b] This is what I meant. I honestly don't ever get sick and I don't want to inject anything in my body. If my work kids and boss are vaccinated, I don't need to be. |
| We had it in our contract and postings; it wasn't an issue with either child's nanny, though presumably someone who cared could just decline to apply for the job. |

I’ve been getting flu shots every year since a baby in my care was hospitalized with the flu. He didn’t get it from me, but it was a scary time. I’ve seen other kids hospitalized. One child had serious health issues after having the flu.
Three families have asked me about getting the shot, but I told them it’s something I already do every year. |
| I don’t work with infants, and rarely with kids under 2, so I don’t keep up with tdap jnless I’m applying for young toddlers. I will get the flu vaccine if I remember or my employers require, and everything else is up to date (not hep, it creates a false positive test result). |
The shot doesn't work perfectly. It just decreases your chances of getting the flu if you're around someone with the flu. If you get the flu you'll have to miss work, which would be an inconvenience to the family. It's convenient for you, given your fear of shots, if your family doesn't require it, but I think it makes a lot more sense for parents to request that their nannies get the flu shot. |
[b] I don't have a fear of shots, I just don't agree with injecting things into my body (aside from childhood vaccines) or taking medication unless it's absolutely necessary. This is not necessary. I do not get sick. I have a healthy immune system because I don't eat garbage or inject garbage into my system. I have taken one sick day in 15+ years of nannying. If families don't like that, they are more than welcome to pass me by. |
And I am sure many employers will pass you by. |

It was suggested to me last winter when MB was pregnant with the 3rd. They offered to pay. I politely declined. Ive never gotten a flu shot nor have I had the flu in my life and wasn’t about to start then or now. They all get flu shots and stay sick with colds despite tooting themselves as germiphobes lol. However they don’t exercise and have horrible sleep habits. There is more to health than a vaccine. I’d have to turn down any jobs that were contingent on my personal health care choices.

[b] I'm sure they won't. In my area of the country people don't even vaccinate their kids (wealthy, hippie area) so no one is going to ask me to get a flu shot. My bosses are the exception who actually vaccinate! Maybe in DC this is required, but in my city most people don't care about that because they don't get shots themselves. |
