food expectations when nanny watches son for a long weekend RSS feed

$60 on top of groceries already in the house seems quite reasonable. I'm assuming you have basic cooking ingredients and fruits and veggies at home that she could have, so this is more for snacks and protein and unique stuff she likes, not eggs and apples.

OP here. I asked her. She asked for cold cuts, bread, and bagels (like I said she's not a very adventurous eater). I, of course, have staples stocked as well that I've told her she's more than welcome to along with the food I have prepped for my son.

Yes, asking was easy and the best route. I was just trying to get a sense of whether people cooked in this situation, left money, or grocery shopped in advance. But I'm set now.

Why wouldn't you expect to provide food if she is studying at your house??? Can she leave your child alone to go get food?

That. But make it $100.
$60 is too little for 4 days.

$100 for one person for 4 days....you are ridiculous. $60 is plenty.

I am not ridiculous. I eat healthy and organic. There's no way I can eat 3 meals a day + snacks for 4 days for $60.

Me, too (re: healthy and organic). With basics/staples already in the house, one could easily shop for that period of time at Whole Foods for $60! Fresh fish, meat, chicken, veggies - as long as you're only getting the protein and fruits/veggies (and not stocking up on crap/snacks/basics), $60 is definitely enough.

I usually prep dinners for my nanny and the kids, but just provide staples for breakfast/lunch.

i eat healthy and mostly organic too and $60 buys me an entire weeks worth of groceries from Whole Foods. I don't buy much prepackaged or processed, but will buy a treat. Not sure what you're buying that costs so dang much. Shop in season and avoid the middle.

$60 for 4 days is generous! Especially if it's on top of whatever OP already has on hand for the nanny. Someone who needs $25 a day in groceries spends around $750 a month on groceries for one person, that is insane.

We eat a lot of fish/seafood (fresh), cheeses, and fruits/veggies. Though I shop for two, it is easy to get to $60 on just proteins/fruits/veggie for one person.

But, again, I still think $60 for that period of time is more than generous considering the circumstances and the fact that all staples have been purchased.

Plus, there's the fact the OP asked the nanny and purchased the food she requested, so this is all moot anyway. Ha!
