So the nanny misses out because her MB can't get her act together? It's a different ballgame here, Nannying isn't like being a lawyer or a waitress.
It is not okay to cut money back when it was guaranteed. |
actually, it's perfectly legal. If an employer schedules you and then doesn't need you they're only required to give you four hours of work. OPs employer scheduled her for 12 hrs and is giving her 11.5. Seriously, not worth making a mountain out of. |
| As someone said, it's the principle of it. If my MB/DB did that to me, I wouldn't stick around as it is taking advantage and we aren't doing it for fun, it is a job. |
| Honestly, I think you should have said something at the time. Does your contract guarantee hours and/or notice? If not, I probably wouldn't make my first stand over 30 minutes; that's just me. |
This is a good point. This is a good opportunity to contact them and explain that in the future you require x hours cancellation, or you will charge in full. But, you can "buy" a lot of good will by not charging for the 30 minutes. They may pay it anyway. |
| i think you are overreacting. Just put in for the 11.5. I am a MN and my ti,e at my job shifts around a lot more than that last minute. |
I agree with this, especially since it was reduced by so little with some notice. |
Since you are a lawyer I need some help. I work 3 days a week (12 days) a month and get paid monthly. I am going on vacation on the first week of June. Just for a week (paid vacation). MB is going to train my substitute for 3 days. My MB said she will deducted my June salary (total amount of 3 days) and pay that potion to my substitute. Can she do that? Thank you |
I'm not the lawyer pp but no she can't do that. If your vacation is paid you get that money. What she does as care replacement, training or not is not your problem. If your vacation was unpaid, she still can't deduct any more money from you. |
| True!! |
It's money and only a fool lets it go. |
|
At the time she changed your hours, you should have told her that you were charging her for full amount of time. If she agrees, fine. If not, then grandma gets the full 16 hours with grandchild. Babysitting is a business not a hobby.
As for the lawyer's comment on fraud, apples and oranges between babysitting and billing for lawyers. |
| Hi! I was the OP of this thread and I left that job shortly after this happened. |
