Suggestions for big brother pick up with toddler naptime RSS feed

How far is the pickup location? Can the little one's schedule be shifted so that he naps 3-5pm, goes to bed at 9pm, wakes at 8:30am or something like that?

How about you do that nap in the stroller? Get him in there early and just get your exercise in before you have to pick up big bro.

I really can't believe this thread. What is so hard about feeding the younger child their lunch at 11:45-12:15, then calming time or a story and nap by 12:30? That way you could get them up at 2:30 to head to pickup. Or just do lunch at 11:30 and nap can be 12:15-2:15 so they youngest can get a small snack and wake up and be ready to go by 2:30?

I would suggest not planning on leaving at 2:35 but earlier just in case as to not push it with time.

why would she do nap in the stroller when there is plenty of time for an actual nap in a bed or crib. Not to mention weather may not always be the best for being in a stroller for hours before dismissal.

This is not rocket science and many of you all are making nannies seem daft.

The big deal is this nanny likes her schedule as is, and doesn't want to change it. Most of us prefer the late afternoon nap, because then quitting time is not too far off when baby wakes up. With the new schedule, she has a much longer afternoon with both kids.

This is a nanny problem.

I think that problem is that a lot of toddlers won't go to sleep at this time.

This!

I've had several charges who wouldn't have been ready for their nap until at least 1, possibly 1.30. When the parent wants them awake in the evening, so that they can spend at least 30 minutes before bedtime, you can't move the nap earlier. This is why I'm a huge fan of carrying the child to the car, as it's the least disruption to the child's schedule and the most sleep for them.

Maybe that is what you prefer. As I keep busy during my shifts, and I frequently work until after 7, it doesn't matter to me when the nap is. It does matter to my charges, and we use their preferred schedule whenever possible.

13:54 here again

If that were the case then she can just put them down at 1 when they return from pickup and they can sleep until 3/4

People are so snarky and nasty here for no reason, always blaming the nannies when we think more or the best interest and routine for them than their damn parents do.

Would you be able to do nap for the little one at 1 after pickup? Or does the oldest have extracurriculars that would disturb this?

I would put him down from 12:15-2:30Wake him up and straight in the stroller with some snacks for the walk to school. I would do diaper change after you got him home. Or wake him at 2:20 and do all that. A two hour nap for a 15 mos old is enough. He should be going down for the night by 7pm anyway so getting up at 4 or 4:30 is late if your doing bedtime routine starting at 6:30.
