DS dislikes the "smell" of our new nanny

People's sense of smell deteriorates with age. What the nanny may think is "not much" perfume could actually be quite a lot. I'd start by asking her not to wear perfume at all. Kids are honest little a-holes. Tell them not to say something and that's the first thing they're going to talk about.

Just teach your kid not to be so upfront and saying nasty things to people, that's your job as a parent.

She's trying. He's little. He isn't getting it consistently yet. And, if her perfume is really strong, and she's picking him up and leaning over him, etc., then it really may be unbearable for him.

OP didn't say it was perfume. She said it was a mothball old person smell. Maybe that's how the perfume smells?
